Railway Project

4WG have been very busy working on illustrations of Blackpool attractions this week.
We are excited that our artwork will be used at Blackpool South Station.

Station visit.

4WG enjoyed our visit to Preston station today as the next stage of our railway project.

We started with a talk about safety in and around the station and then moved on to activities. Can you spot our Chair of Governors? He was at the station today and came along to see how we're getting along.

We found out a lot about how Preston station works. Even details about what goes onto the trains as they pick up supplies.

We mapped our journey to and from school. The journey back was hotter than the journey there, but we were able to have another look at the route.
This was a great experience for many of our children who have never travelled by train before.

Year 4 Railway Project.

Year 4 were very excited to have visitors in school on Tuesday to share details of the railways. Children found out about signals, uniforms, lights, whistles and flags and how systems are organised to make the railways safe.

After half term, each class will travel by train to the learning centre at Preston station to find out more about railways and to see a large station in action.
We will then be working on a project throughout the summer to provide signs and decorations at South Shore station. We are really looking forward to getting started!

Anglo Saxon Jewellery.

The children worked hard this afternoon to produce replica Anglo Saxon jewellery. They will have the opportunity to paint it and thread it later so should have a necklace to bring home.

4WG's Easter scenes

Well done to everyone for the fantastic Easter scenes you have put together this year. They are amazing!

Clay work.

Tuesday afternoon's activity was creating bottles for our potions using slab and coil clay techniques.

Arrow and Bullet.

The children were busy on Tuesday morning, recreating a key scene from our focus text. I am sure they will be able to tell you the details of the storyline. Four freeze frame scenes for each pair to show key events in the backstory of Arrow and Bullet.
